2004 Open Mini-Circuit Awards
The Southern Arizona Appaloosa Promoters is pleased to announce the
winners of the 2004 Open Breed Mini-Circuit Horse Show Season as well as
the club’s Year-End Awards. Awards were presented on December 18th in
Tucson. The Mini-Circuit Shows involved competition among all horse breeds
and included all levels of riding ability. Mimi Salber and Mary Ann Miller
were Co-Chairs for these well attended shows. A total of 5 shows were
sponsored during the year and eligibility for awards required showing at 4
of the 5 shows. The shows were held at the Pima County Fairgrounds and
included halter, showmanship, equitation, English and Western pleasure,
hunter hack, and trail classes. These shows attracted numerous horses from
starting out to world champions. Competition was extremely tough and we
congratulate the high point and reserve winners.

2004 Year End
Awards
The SAAP Year End Awards
were awarded to the following contestants based upon criteria established
by the Board of Directors and included in the official SAAP Rule Book.
National point standings were utilized for the performance horse (in
classes such as Junior and Senior Western Pleasure, Hunter under Saddle,
Halter, Hunter-in-Hand, Hunter over Fences, and Games) and exhibitor
(Non-Pro and Youth categories) awards. Points accumulated in other open
breed horse shows sponsored by other organizations were required for the
Open Show Champion award. Youth and Non-Pro contestants with the most
points showing in non-SAAP sponsored horse shows throughout the year were
eligible for this award.
The versatility of the
Appaloosa is awarded in categories such as parade and specialty horse
awards. Riders are recognized for their hours of riding (i.e. trails,
exercising, ring work, etc.) during the year for a distance rider award.
SAAP also selects a volunteer of the year award to show appreciation to a
member who goes over and beyond the call of duty to the club. This award
is most cherished and is selected by secret ballot of the membership.
The SAAP Board of
Directors and Officers would like to express congratulations to the
